We had our first major snowstorm of the year and I was right out in the middle of it so that I could enjoy the Monday morning after Christmas with the Michaud boys. I must be awful dedicated… more like obsessed with this whole house project, because normally when the weather is all crazy windy and cold I’m finding a nice place to stay inside, warm, and out of the elements.
Not so much today, and you can see my father busy at work shoveling out one of these snowdrifts so that we could hopefully get the one piece shower into the house through the four foot sliding glass door. If only he had known it would’ve fit through the front door I doubt he’d be doing this!
Monday was a pretty cool day to be up on the hill. I guess you don’t realize how sheltered from the elements living just a few blocks down the hill in town really is, but I can honestly say I’ve never seen the snow and wind whip around the house like I did yesterday. It was really cool to watch all the crazy weather in my gigantic windows! Too bad I had to go back outside to get home.
The topic of construction is still more hanging sheet rock and mud. They’re almost there, but still have a few more days left before we have to start picking out our colors and get painting. YIKES! Will mom ever be able to make up her mind on what colors to use?
Andrew and dad were once again humongous helps taking care of some of the wiring. We actually made a bit of an oppsie when we pulled all the automation wires labeling some of the wires too far up on their length. I realized that once the drywall was in place some of these labels would be missing beyond the walls so Andrew and I relabeled every wire in the cabinets. Thank goodness he’s patient.
Dad and I also more neatly finished up the speaker terminal distribution area. I bought several of the shallow handy box recessed plastic electrical boxes and ran each set of speaker wires to its respective box. The boxes were then labeled with their room ID and then the terminal box installed on top. There are still a few more terminal boxes left to install that need to be soldered so I’ll save the finished picture for when they’re all done. Just the same, it looks very nice and should make our audio distribution more polished and much easier to implement.
I’ll be up there tomorrow hanging out with the guys and hopefully deciding on paint colors. Any brilliant ideas on how I should decorate my great big sunny room?
