Garage Rebar, Interior Wall Framing, Radiant Heat

Finding it awfully challenging to concentrate on schoolwork with the house being built throughout the day.  Seems like I want to be right in the middle of everything throughout the day and seldom get what I wanted accomplished during the day.  Not like it’s going to change though!

It was a swarm of activity when I traveled up the hill this afternoon.  The concrete men had finished insulating the slab, covered it with a piece of poly, and were well on their way to tying the rebar.  When I had originally spec’d the concrete detail it was for a continuous pour with the entire slab all done at once.  The concrete contractor felt more comfortable doing this in 2 pieces, so that’s where we are at now.  One thing I hadn’t thought about previously was how to tie everything all in together.  As one slab, this wasn’t too much of a worry, but now that it’s two separate pieces I need to make sure everything is secured/poured together as one.  Guess that means a phone call/doublechecking with the GC and concrete sub tomorrow.

There was also some major enhancements with the framing when I arrived.  Instead of describing what happened in just a short day let’s look at the pictures.

And From the Middle of the Great Room

In total they finished the framing for the utility room, bathroom, two bedrooms, the sunroom, and the first wall to my bedroom.  Things are really starting to shape up!

Looks like it’s raining tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be able to get a bunch of the automation stuff figured out and ordered.  Still have some time to get most of the electrical/automation stuff, but some of the items like electric door strikes and access control keypads need to be ordered now.

Mike, I can't believe how fast this is coming along! It is so exciting and I can understand how hard it is to concentrate on anything else 🙂
