Earthworks put in a strong day at the site and got a whole lot accomplished today. We’re extremely happy with the progress so far!
I showed up at the site this morning to watch Mike and John work the bulldozer and vibrating roller as several loads of gravel were trucked in from Easton. I still can’t believe how quickly an experienced operator can make something look like a mess and fix it all over again. Around 11 AM this morning Mike and I made a few adjustments to the location of the house. I wanted him to get things aligned close to parallel with the trees on the east/west property lines because I knew they ran very close to due north/south from looking at the overhead in Google Earth. We eyeballed things, made a few adjustments, and I must say I am completely happy/satisfied with the results. At 12:38 PM today, exact solar noon, the east and west walls of the house aligned exactly with the sun. This means all windows on the southern wall will get maximum solar exposure and the most amount of winter BTUs from the sun. Good stuff!
John helped me take a few pictures this morning as they were leveling gravel with the bulldozer.
I made a trip up with my parents this evening to look at the finished product. My what a difference an afternoon can make!
You guys won’t be hearing much from me over the next few days as I’m headed to Portland for a bachelor party and to spend time with my sister and her fiancé. Expect to see lots of progress next week as we put in the crushed rock before laying the forms for the concrete.
Awesome! This looks pretty sweet. Its crazy how quick these guys can get work done. Quite impressive I must say! Can't wait to see you tomorrow 🙂
This is going to happen fast! Can't wait to see it in person later this month.
Hey Mike…As your future neighbors, we are very excited about watching the progress. Had my little great-nephew watching the bulldozer and waving to Josh! We are so happy for you. It is impressive to read all about your designs. Welcome to the neighborhood…Rick & Nancy
