So I said I’d never do it… start a blog, write about my trials and tribulations… talk about my disability and how I’ve overcome it.
Since I broke my neck three years ago in a skiing accident everyone has been telling me that I should share my story. You know… write a blog and tell everyone all about the little things I’m doing in my life to overcome this crazy disability. Well heck with that! I had a hard enough time keeping everyone up-to-date after my recovery… I’m certainly not going to do it now that I’m all better!
But maybe if I could do a blog about something else, something I find fascinating and something I know could be a tremendous help to all kinds of people out there who are facing their own challenges. What if this blog could help me by gathering some of the gifted minds throughout the Internet as we come together and plan a truly remarkable project that will make my life so much easier. What do I think? ABSOLUTELY!
In what follows is Quadomated, a blog detailing the design of an extremely smart home that uses all sorts of fancy technology and automation to make my house do everything I could conceive. In the next months expect lots of brainstorming, lots of techie design/discussions, and certainly some pictures of technology making my life more fun and convenient. Read on… put in your insight… and please help me think of everything as me and a really great group of builders construct my family’s new house.
This is a great idea, can you post your home design?
I agree great idea Mike! Good luck. I'm anxious to see all the ideas and how remarkable it is when it is done. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Most definitely will be posting my home design, pictures of the land, and every other little piece of the puzzle. Will break the big project apart into a bunch of sub pieces and tackle it with more manageable installments each day. Expect lots to follow!
I’ve been a C6-7 SCI Quad since May 1956. I always wanted to be an architect since I took drting in high school. My injury set that goal aside but I did design and build my first home in 1959. I’ve beccome very involved in Universal Design since 2007 and have written one published article and written several other papers and amdendments to our Visitability Ordinance (which I also instigated and helped author to completion in 2004). I’d love to hook up with you.
