Smoothing out the Dirt Piles, Roofing, Doors

bulldozer, door, earthwork, roller, roofing, skid steer, sunny

What a bustle of activity up on the hill today! I was so busy this morning working on webpages and doing homework that I didn’t make it up to the job site until 2 PM. By that time the sun was shining full force through all the front windows and even without insulation I could feel the temperature inside the house starting to rise. It’s going to be so comfy!

Earthworks showed up late this morning to smooth out the 40+ loads of dirt and backfill everything up to the side of the house.  At the same time the roofers were finishing the North section, and Jerry/Mike were installing the last of the exterior doors. What a bustle of activity! At one point I counted 8 people hard at work making the most of a beautiful day.

I was trying out a new wheelchair today so I decided to take it for a stroll through the school farm and really put it through its paces. This chair is a completely different design than the one I’m sitting in tonight. Instead of being a mid-wheel design and having all the issues of getting stuck when the casters high center, this one is a frontwheel design that is far more suited for off-road usage. There are definitely some positives to each model/design, but I could definitely go places with this one that I would not have dreamt going with my own. Hmm… Still wish they made these things a little bit more manly. Seems, that I must be the exception for all the abuse I give my poor wheelchair!

We decided to go with something a little bit different for our doors. I really like the rounded arch and slats of the Santa Fe door.

I noticed Jerry and Mike brought a silent glow heater to the job site this morning. I’m getting excited! Things are starting to close up enough that we’ll be able to get heating this place so that I can start enjoying it again! Lots more dialogue about my home theater design… Seems this room layout is really get some ideas flowing!
