I know… I know… promised you all the kitchen way back on Wednesday, but the appliances didn’t get completely installed until Thursday, and well, I had a little trick up my sleeve for this weekend. We threw the first annual Chasse eat lots of hot dogs and beans family party and what a great way to break in the almost all finished/ready house.
Awesome time, with all our closest peeps!
Couple things that really stuck out from this first shindig… the kitchen/layout is incredible! No problem having 2, 3… 5 chefs in the kitchen. At the old house, throw in more than a person or two next to the stove/countertop and you were bumping into each other, in each other’s way, and not a thing was getting done, at the new place… the more the merrier! Plus there is all that great countertop to set out food! Then there is the whole how many people can you fit… 20 was a breeze! This open floor plan design is perfect for throwing a party… Now I just need the folks to head on out of town for vacation!
Thought I had many more pictures to show you of the good times, but it looks like the picture taker must have been running around with Julie’s camera (looks identical to mine) instead of mine. So you’ll have to wait until she can upload me the pictures.
That’s okay, because I really wanted to show a few pictures of the granite countertop installation and everything that happened between before we had a kitchen and now.
And then…
We are ABSOLUTELY in love with the kitchen! Everything about it, from the fine trim work/crown molding around the main kitchen and island, the beautiful granite countertop, to the stainless steel appliances and accents is just simply better than we could have possibly imagined. The granite installers were superb, and somehow managed to fabricate the massive island piece without a seam (everyone from the carpenters to the kitchen people at SW Collins just can’t believe this!). The plumber Perrin Ellis from Easton really came to our rescue and did some fast/great work getting everything ready for this weekend’s party. And of course Mike and Jerry always going that extra step to make sure everything is just perfect!
Looks awesome!
Sorry I missed it!
Looks great. I love the cherry and black granite combination (that's why I chose it for my kitchen!)Bring on the electrical. We are getting closer and closer to automation-y stuff.
Soon… very soon… the cable company is showing up on Thursday to set up our TV, Internet, and phone. Hopefully I can get my distribution panel somewhat squared away around then and show you a bunch of photos of the automation stuff!
Wow looks great! I have heard that you are having an open house for the public when it is finished, is that true?
Looking great Mike, can't wait for the housewarming! Sue,Chester and Eliana
Hey there "anonymous"… can't say we're exactly having an open house for the public, but if you contact me directly through my e-mail I'll see what I can do for you personally. We love sharing our home on this blog and hope it can benefit/inspire many others, but only feel comfortable/safe taking the public thing so far. Hope to hear from you! -MikeAnd Sue/Chester/Eliana… Can't wait to see you guys!
Any updates? Cable, Internet and TV have been installed for several days now!
Looks sooo amazing Mike!!!! So happy for you!!!!Alicia
Beautiful kitchen. Countertop looks excellent. We just bought steel grey countertop for our kitchen, hope it does justice like yours (though ours is a smaller kitchen)
Thanks Tanya! Feel like it definitely makes the kitchen/that part of our house stand out 🙂 Haven’t once regretted the added expense.
I love your kitchen. — everything about it. I am getting cherry cabinets similiar to your color. I am also getting a Kraus sink. Your site was the only place I could actually see the steel gray granite with cherry cabinets. It looks so nice. This granite is my first choice. Could you please tell me a little about it. What is the upkeep, does it stain easy, how often do you have to seal it, is it durable? Are you still pleased with it? Any info would be appreciated. Love your island also, floor and your dog.
