More Automation Wiring

Andersen window operator, automation wiring

There has been a whole lot accomplished with the automation system. Major complements to my dad for being the prime mover behind making it all happen. I was a little bit nervous about working with my dad on all this wiring, because we don’t always see eye to eye (I am an overly detail oriented engineer after all) on how things like this should be done, but I must say, he has more than exceeded my expectations for the quality of his work and how neat everything is. Probably just as good or better than I would’ve done it.

The Automation Area

The mass of wires for the left cabinet is all the input sensors for the door, window, motion, and temperature sensors. The middle cabinet is all the outputs for the door and window operators. And, the right cabinet (that is currently empty) will be where all the CAT5E and COAX terminates.  To the right of that is where the audio/video equipment is all run and the many white/black wires are for the speakers that will be centrally distributed/controlled from this area.

Now it’s time to figure out what wires absolutely must be run tomorrow so that the guys can get working on insulating this place. Can’t wait until that’s all done and the inside is warmer so that I can get up there and enjoy myself without the giant down jacket and gangster like blue hood.
