What happened to all our sunlight?
It’s amazing how short the days get up here in northern Maine as we near the winter solstice and the sun starts to lose its energy. Lately it’s been rather cold in the mornings and rather dark in the afternoons, especially with all this dank, dreary weather!
That hasn’t slowed up the builders and electrician, just given them more motivation to work fast so that they can be inside and warm where it’s well lit and hopefully soon heated. Jerry and Mike even brought up one of those portable, silent glow heaters to take off the chill and so that I can enjoy it up there with everyone. I just holler crank up the jet and one of them comes running to give me a dose of heat. Thanks guys!
The siding showed up at the beginning of the week.
The guys are really doing just an incredible job! You can look down the side of that entire 70 foot wall and barely see a seam, not a ripple, or an imperfection along the whole thing. Even the area where the direct vent intake/exhaust for our boiler really seems to blend in and look just like it belongs.
On the inside there has been equally impressive progress. The electricians Wayne Smith and his son Kevin started wiring everything up in my area of the house and have now made it into the center kitchen/living area. Don’t know if I got lucky, or am just that good at picking subcontractors (maybe it’s just Aroostook County folks!), but so far everyone has been really top-notch and the type of people you like being around. Even better is most of them are as detail oriented and particular as I am.
I’ve only got a few pictures of the electrical work so far (will have to take more today), but can say it’s just as perfect as the rest that’s gone into this job.
Wow! Guess I really do need to take some more pics. Look forward to an update tomorrow!
