I’m sure the mechanical guys are happy today’s over! The morning started with a few finishing touches to the hydronic heat system and then the water district guy showed up to crank the water main on. I had to laugh as I listened to Gary and Joe (the mechanical guys) talk about the way they used to do this in the old days, with a window opened and lots of hollering back and forth between the guy turning on the water and the guy making sure it wasn’t exploding all over the place. Today, just a few pushes on the cell phone and Gary was in direct contact with the guy switching on the water main in case any problems arose. Lucky, there was barely a leak in the place and we now have water and a huge concrete slab getting up to temperature.
So yeah, the heat is on! YIPPEE! Me and my folks were so happy today that we almost had to go buy a few sparklers, light them inside the garage, and wave our arms around in the air. So yeah, happy we are, now it just needs to make it through the night.
We went up just a few minutes ago to check on everything and take a few pictures of the working boiler.
It’s looking pretty dang awesome!
Now they just need to bring the rest of the zones online. And we’ll be in business! Tomorrow it’ll be like another world inside! Can’t wait!
Other happenings today? Well, the builders Mike and Jerry have really pushed along towards finishing up my end of the house and installed a bunch more sheet rock, some special “green” mold resistant rock for my shower area, and the very slick looking/operating pocket doors.
The green walls mean mold won’t be growing here!
They got much more done than this, but we took these photos earlier in the day and were so overwhelmed about having heat that tonight the camera get contained in the utility room. I’m sure it will look like a huge amount more done tomorrow when we take photos of the grand room and finished bedrooms.
Watch closely for an update soon.
Thumbs up!
