After way too many months of silence, a summer full of Caleb the Super Dog adventures unshared, Quadomated electronic awesomeness undocumented, and my rants about the screwedupness of the disability system unheard I think it’s time Quadomated refound its voice!
And this time, I’ll be doing it all different! Instead of quickly throwing together a blog on whatever platform I could figure out first (previously Google Blogger) and writing about a project with a finite timeline (i.e. building a kick ass automated home) that would eventually get finished and interrupted by other awesomenesses in life (yeah that’s you Caleb) I’ve decided to take a step back and really think out my approach with Quadomated this time around. With this new focus and a platform built to support it the new Quadomated website will help push loads of information to its audience in exactly the way they can best see/appreciate and allow me the freedom to write about and explore the technology and issues that hit me closest. Following this I can only hope to open the most eyes and stir up the greatest amount of fun/controversy.
What does that mean? Quadomated will no longer be focused on only building an accessible smart home, but will now have the following four very distinct faces:
- Adaptive Awesomeness – most definitely the primary focus of Quadomated and will focus on all the very cool stuff (most of it heavily electronic/technical in nature) I use every day to make my life better/easier.
- Conquering Life – is where I’ll share all the good stuff, the adventures I share with Caleb the Super Dog, inspirational thoughts/moments, or just me and others getting on with life when life needs getting on.
- Hell with Disability – ahh… my rants section, where I’ll take a harsh look at the outrageous abuse, individual/corporate greed, and just despicable behavior of all who abuse the disability system that should be there to help those who need it the most. Believe me, I won’t go easy!
- Universally Designed – and of course the place where I’ll document all the incredible information learned while building my own universally designed smart home. I’ll add plenty to this section as I discuss what I could’ve done differently and delve much deeper into the world of accessible homes.
When you visit the new Quadomated drop right in on the homepage to see a smattering of everything listed above, or jump straight to one of the tabs and find only the information you’d like. Whichever you prefer I can only hope you enjoy and benefit from the information contained within, and maybe if I’m really, truly lucky you’ll contribute a little bit in the comments section or give me a suggestion on what to write next. Either way I hope you take something positive from the new Quadomated and/or just give me a solid smack in the forehead if there is something I could do better.
Thanks for reading and I can’t wait for the future!
-Mike
