Without a doubt the highlight of Caleb the Super Dog’s day (duh… obviously other than hanging out with me!) is when mom comes home from work and he gets to do his favorite trick in the whole world… Get mommy’s slippers!
You see, he loves this trick not only because he’s being super helpful and that’s like the bestest thing in his life, but we also give him one of those yummy T-bone treats that he thinks is like the most amazing thing in the whole world when he brings back the slippers. Yes, CCI, I know I was only supposed to train with his dog treats, but it got so hard to not give my boy a little something special once in a while, so we decided to train this trick with T-bones and now he’s absolutely obsessed. Like “OH MY FREAKING GOSH” she’s home, let me go get her slippers! Only problem is now he’s extending that on to just about everyone coming in the front door, so now we’re having to systematically untrain that behavior so it only happens when we ask for it. Oh, the drive to please!
Hey there other service dog folks… ever notice these pooches are just a little bit food motivated?!? Like food is the most amazing thing in the entire universe and I’m going to scarf it down so quickly it’s like it just disappeared!
This is so cute – thanks for the smile! (And, warning!)
