HAI Omnipro II Test Bay

HAI Omnipro II, Somfy ILT, test bay

I made some major progress with the home automation system this Saturday with the help of my good buddy Craig. We snipped and stripped a few wires and get everything set up on my test bay so that I could test each subsystem one at a time in a controlled environment. So far I’ve been able to get online with the controller using a serial port and an adapter that plugs in to a USB port on my computer, made the window operator turn forwards and back, and realized I’m missing a few crucial cables for the electric shade operators. Maybe once I receive my wires from Inlution this won’t be the case.

I’ll show you all my very crude electronic test bay.  It’s nothing pretty, but with a few tools and wire left over from my days as a ski lift engineer I’ve been able to make some incredible progress!

And the home theater design… there has been some extremely thoughtful yet equally entertaining conversation between me and a few folks on the AVSForums and Cocoontech boards. One man in particular is a home theater professional from the deep south with hilarious, colorful commentary that equally tears apart what I thought was a perfect design, and slickly pieces it back together into a masterpiece.  We are currently writing novels back and forth to each other for all to enjoy at the thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1287156.

Still lots of work to be done, but so far my dream theater looks like it will hideaway into the ceiling during the bright sunny days and then miraculously drop down from above with a 120 inch recessed screen. Getting so giddy with excitement just thinking about it!

I’ll post pictures and tell you more as I get time.

Man Almighty is my voice recognition software getting a work outbetween these post, my very active threads on the boards, and all this foolish graduate school homework!

Can’t wait to write you all again!
